Description
A press-molded slag glass toothpick holder designed in the form of a saddle. The vessel is composed of an opaque light aqua-blue ground with marbled swirls of translucent amber and dark brown. The form features a central well with a raised pommel and cantle, flanked by side flaps or skirts with scalloped and textured edges. Molded linear and decorative details are present throughout the seat and flaps. This style of novelty glass was produced by several American manufacturers during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including Challinor, Taylor and Company. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible.
Approximately 2.5 inches H x 3 inches W.
Condition report:
The item appears to be in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor internal swirls and mold lines are present, which are characteristic of the press-molding process and the nature of slag glass.
