6.25.26 JUNE ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 17:
Sold for: $65
Description
This two-piece pressed glass covered dish is designed in the traditional Hen on a Nest form and executed in transparent emerald green glass. The lid is molded in the shape of a nesting hen with textured feather detailing across the body and a smooth, upright tail. The base features a vertically ribbed lower section and a wide, scalloped rim decorated with a raised twisted rope or cable motif. The size is consistent with a small trinket dish or individual salt cellar. While this pattern and color are associated with 20th-century American glass production by manufacturers like L. E. Smith and Mosser Glass, no maker’s marks are visible on the interior or exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
The dish is in good overall condition. There is a small, pale blemish on the upper portion of the hen\'s wing/back, which appears to be either a minor surface flake or a manufacturing inclusion within the glass. No other chips, cracks, or significant signs of wear were observed.
