Description
This mid-century American art glass footed compote is attributed to the Viking Glass Company and features their Cabbage Leaf pattern. The piece is constructed from mold-pressed opaque glass with a satin or frosted finish. It is designed with a hand-crimped, ruffled rim and relief-molded decoration of leaves and roses on the exterior bowl and base. The glass displays a heat-sensitive color gradient, transitioning from a creamy white at the base to a vibrant pink at the rim. No maker marks or logos are visible on the underside of the foot.
Condition report:
The item is in excellent vintage condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. A small dark pinpoint inclusion is present on one of the rim ruffles, which is a common manufacturing artifact in glass of this period.
