Description
A vintage opaque white milk glass covered dish manufactured by the Westmoreland Glass Company. The item features a two-handled basket base with a scalloped rim and a matching lid surmounted by a nesting hen. Both components are decorated with a molded basketweave texture. The hen figure is detailed with cold-painted red accents on the comb and wattles. The interior base of the basket features a molded maker mark consisting of a capital W superimposed over a capital G, identifying the producer as the Westmoreland Glass Company of Grapeville, Pennsylvania.
Condition report:
The dish is in good overall vintage condition. Visible surface grime and dark staining are present on the interior of the basket and the underside of the lid. There is minor paint loss and wear to the red enameled accents on the hen head. No chips, cracks, or restorations are visible.
