Description
This lot comprises an assortment of decorative elephant figurines in various materials and styles. The collection includes a large ceramic figure with a trunk-up posture, featuring a high-shine iridescent metallic glaze in shades of copper, purple, and bronze. A medium-sized ceramic elephant is finished in cream and brown glazes with a pierced decorative saddle and significant glaze crazing throughout. Two matching kneeling elephant figurines, likely intended as trinket boxes, are made of molded resin with an antiqued gold-tone finish and carry lidded baskets on their backs. Also included is a stylized elephant figurine carved from a dark, matte-finish stone and a small elephant figure made of dark reddish-brown molded resin in the style of cinnabar with an intricate caparison. Completing the group is a small metal figurine with a dark patina and etched gold-tone decorative patterns on the head and body in a traditional Southeast Asian style. No maker’s marks, factory stamps, or signatures were observed on any of the items.
Condition report:
The figurines are in good overall condition. The cream and brown glazed ceramic elephant shows prominent glaze crazing consistent with its material. The carved stone figure exhibits minor surface scuffs. The small metal figure shows surface oxidation and patina consistent with age. No major chips, cracks, or repairs were noted upon visual inspection.
