Description
This collection comprises various ceramic decorative objects and figurines with elephant motifs, characterized by an iridescent lusterware glaze. The pieces feature polychrome hand-painted accents in shades of pink, green, yellow, and blue over a base of grey, white, or cream ceramic. Included in the assortment is a figurine with a large circular handle featuring an elephant wearing a top hat, a figural group depicting two people in a carriage drawn by an elephant with a feline figure perched on top, a candle holder featuring a small elephant beside a stylized floral blossom, and two separate figural groups each depicting a pair of elephants on a grassy, textured base. The pieces exhibit a mid-20th-century novelty aesthetic. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the exterior surfaces of the objects.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good vintage condition. There is light surface wear consistent with age, including minor rubbing to the luster glaze and hand-painted details.
