Description
This collection consists of several items of American pressed glassware from the mid-20th century, presented in a variety of green tones. Five of the pieces exhibit a bright green fluorescence under ultraviolet light, identifying them as uranium glass. These fluorescent items include a footed sherbet dish with a paneled block pattern; a small creamer featuring a floral design attributed to the Hocking Glass Company Princess pattern; a second small creamer with embossed scroll and heart motifs and a scalloped rim; a footed salt or pepper shaker with a fluted body on a pedestal base; and a tall, tapering salt or pepper shaker with a fluted body. The remaining three items are non-fluorescent forest green glass, comprising a bulbous shaker with vertical ribbing and a domed black cap; an octagonal faceted shaker with a domed black cap attributed to the Hazel Atlas Dark Rain design; and an open octagonal faceted jar matching the aforementioned shaker. All pieces are constructed of pressed glass and display visible mold seams typical of the era.
Condition report:
The collection is in good condition overall, showing signs of age appropriate for antique glassware. The metal caps on the uranium glass salt and pepper shakers exhibit significant oxidation and surface pitting. One dark green faceted jar is missing its original cap. There are fine surface scratches and minor manufacturing mold marks present across various pieces.
