Description
This collection features an assortment of miniature tools and domestic items constructed from cast iron, carved wood, and mixed metals. Included is a cast-iron combination safe bank decorated with ornate relief patterns and a rotating dial. Two hand-carved wooden spoons or scoops of different lengths are present, showing tool marks and a natural finish. The group also contains a miniature black metal anvil with a small silver-tone hammer, both mounted to a rectangular wooden base. Other items include a small hatchet with a red-painted metal head and wooden handle, a black cast-iron lever-action press, a metal scoop with a turned wooden handle, and a rectangular metal scraper or trowel with a wooden handle. Several pieces appear to be scale models or salesman samples. No manufacturer marks are clearly legible on the surfaces of these items.
Condition report:
The items display a range of condition consistent with age and use. Metal components show varying degrees of surface oxidation, pitting, and loss of original finishes. The hatchet head exhibits significant paint loss and wear to the striking surface. Wooden elements show a natural aged patina, surface abrasions, and light soiling. The cast-iron press shows some loss to the black japanned or painted finish.
