5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 235:
Description
This vintage citrus reamer is crafted from translucent pale green glass, commonly known as uranium glass. The piece consists of a central conical reamer integrated into a shallow bowl featuring a single pouring spout and a small D-shaped loop handle. The exterior of the bowl and the reamer cone are decorated with molded vertical ribbing. The underside of the circular base features a molded twelve-point star or radiating leaf motif. When exposed to ultraviolet light, the glass displays a strong, bright green fluorescence, confirming the presence of uranium. This style of functional kitchenware was characteristic of American glass production during the Depression era of the 1930s. Based on visual characteristics and the base pattern, the item is attributed to the Federal Glass Company, though no manufacturer marks are visible.
Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible. Consistent with Depression-era pressed glass, minor manufacturing irregularities such as small air bubbles or straw marks may be present.
