Description
This lot features two vintage metal advertising pieces. The first item is a Pepsi-Cola thermometer constructed of white lithographed metal. The face of the thermometer displays the brand slogan HAVE A PEPSI DAY! above a graphic of a Pepsi-branded glass. It includes local dealer advertising for LAKE CITY BOTTLING with the telephone number 425-9000 and the mark Sample 300. The gauge features dual Fahrenheit and Celsius scales. The second item is a rectangular Massey-Harris dealership sign. The sign is finished in red with yellow lettering outlined in black. The design includes the brand name MASSEY-HARRIS across the top and the words SALES SERVICE flanking a central yellow sunburst logo that depicts a hand holding a tool marked M-H. The bottom of the sign is marked MODERN FARM EQUIPMENT and carries a REG. U.S. PAT. notice. The reverse of the sign has a textured gray finish and bears a paper sticker from a security station dated 10-13-22.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit wear consistent with age and previous use. The Pepsi-Cola thermometer shows light surface scuffing and minor oxidation concentrated around the mounting holes and along the edges. The Massey-Harris sign displays minor paint loss and oxidation at the corner mounting holes, with several light surface scratches across the red field and minor wear to the perimeter. The thermometer tube remains intact.
