5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 18:
Description
This lot consists of two pieces of American iridescent art glass produced by Degenhart Crystal Art Glass of Cambridge, Ohio. The first item is a scalloped rim commemorative cup plate in a light blue iridescent finish. The center depicts a raised profile portrait of Elizabeth Degenhart, identified by the embossed text ELIZABETH DEGENHART and FIRST LADY OF GLASS on the rim. At the base of the portrait is the makers mark featuring a heart containing the letter D. The second item is a small standing dog figurine, commonly identified as a Scottie or terrier, rendered in matching iridescent blue glass. This figure also bears the D in a heart makers mark on the back near the tail. Elizabeth Degenhart owned and operated the glassworks from 1964 until 1979, and these pieces are characteristic of the pressed glass novelties produced during her tenure.
Condition report:
Both items appear to be in very good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The iridescent finish remains consistent and vibrant on both pieces.
