5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 158:
Description
This lot comprises two art glass paperweights, each featuring an egg-shaped form with internal lampworked decorations. The first paperweight is composed of clear glass containing multiple floral sprigs with white petals accented by red, blue, and yellow glass. The second paperweight is fashioned from a slightly amber-tinted glass and contains a more robust internal design representing green foliage and white flowers. Both pieces incorporate a series of controlled internal air bubbles, known as seeds, throughout the design. The style and construction of these items are consistent with late 20th-century art glass, often attributed to Italian Murano workshops or similar studios. There are no visible maker marks, signatures, or labels on either piece.
Condition report:
Both paperweights show minor surface wear and faint scratching consistent with age and handling. The internal air bubbles are characteristic of the handmade glass-making process. No significant chips, cracks, or deep abrasions are noted upon visual inspection.
