The lid is molded in the form of a nesting hen, featuring textured feathering across the wings and breast and an upright, ribbed tail. The hen is depicted with a detailed head, including a comb, beak, and wattles. The base is an oval dish with a molded basketweave pattern on the exterior and a scalloped rim designed to hold the lid securely. This style of glassware was popularized by several American manufacturers, including Fenton, Westmoreland, and McKee, during the mid to late 20th century.
