Description
A group of vintage milk glass salt and pepper shakers comprising two distinct pairs. One pair features tapered white glass bodies decorated with hand-painted strawberry and green leaf motifs, accented by faint gold-tone flourishes. These are fitted with fluted white plastic screw-on lids. The second pair consists of white milk glass bodies with a horizontal ribbed or beehive texture, labeled with block lettering for SALT and PEPPER. This pair is topped with perforated, circular metal screw-on lids. The strawberry decoration is in the style of McCoy, while the ribbed bodies are characteristic of mid-century kitchenware by manufacturers such as Fire King. No maker marks are visible on the glass or the hardware.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of age and wear consistent with previous use. The hand-painted pair exhibits minor paint loss to the strawberry and leaf designs and thinning of the gold-tone accents. The ribbed pair shows significant fading to the SALT and PEPPER labels. The metal lids display heavy oxidation, surface rust, and general grime. Minor surface wear and discoloration are present on the plastic lids and glass bodies.
